In 1975, Mr Branimir Zivkovic came up with the idea of using a totally different material for his product - one that would not be slippery, and would be more practical and safer for fencers. This idea turned into the first perforated aluminum strip surface, that debuted in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.
